For today’s Friday Filler it’s time to look at one of the new uses of fillers and fat injections, and how they can contribute to maintaining, or regaining, a youthful appearance that matches how you feel on the inside.
While we often focus on major surgeries such as Rhinoplasty, Liposuction and Facelift on this blog, the New York times recently took a look at a part of the body that may reveal your age regardless of your lifestyle or aesthetic surgery – your hands. As one patient quoted in the story suggests, ““I’m 67, but I’m way younger than that number,” she said. “My hands don’t go with my body or lifestyle.”
In our younger years, the skin on our hands is still tight and youthful fat keeps them appearing full. Sun exposure and age can contribute to spots, wrinkles and bulging veins that make you appear older. The New York Times reveals the increasing popularity of “hand lifts” to help patients turn back the hands of time, literally.
Using a combination of fillers such as Restylane, Juvederm and Perlane in addition to CO2 laser resurfacing, doctors are able to plump hands and remove any brown spots that contribute to the older appearance. Some patients may also make use of their own fat to inject back into the hands as it is less expensive and longer lasting, according to Dr. John Farella, a plastic surgeon based in Mt. Kisco, New York.
One of the doctors interviewed in the article, Dr. Neil Sadick, believes that “The hands are a hot new area . . . Now that we have the face so well treated, we’re looking at the hands, neck and décolleté.”
If you are looking to treat your hands keep in mind that, similar to filler or fat grafting on the face, brusing and swelling will occur following treatment. We recommend ordering SinEcchi to make sure you have a faster recovery and can reveal your results sooner!
